How it works
- Without contributions: A = P × (1 + r ÷ n)^(n × t), where n is compounds per year and t is years.
- With monthly contributions, the calculator simulates every month: the balance grows by the equivalent monthly rate, then your contribution is added.
- Interest earned = final balance − everything you contributed.
Frequently asked questions
What is compound interest?
It is interest earned on both your original money and on interest already earned, so growth accelerates over time.
Does compounding frequency matter much?
More frequent compounding gives slightly more growth, but the rate and time invested matter far more.
Are returns guaranteed?
Only for fixed-rate products like deposits. Investment returns vary, so treat the result as an estimate, not a promise.
